The Post

An exciting 0.4 FTE maternity cover opportunity has arisen within Academic Registry. The role provides key decision-making, administration and management support within the Student Programmes team through the operationalisation of academic regulation and policy across the University's academic programmes. This includes student attainment, module registration, student progression and other key processes that support our students' successful completion of their programme and their experience at the University of Stirling.

The Student Programmes team is responsible for:
Operationalisation of academic regulation and policy across UG and PG programmes; Student attainment administration; Information and guidance to students on meeting the requirements for their intended award; Module registration; Undergraduate progression decisions; Research student progress monitoring; Processing award recommendations; Leave of absence administration; Student withdrawal administration; Research student funding administration; ESEC Academic Panels support.
The Student Programmes Coordinator (Undergraduate) is a senior role within the team which is required to operate across the full range of Student Programmes activity, but with a particular focus on undergraduate students and programmes.
The post provides key decision-making, administration and management within the Student Programmes team and contributes to the broader Academic Quality and Governance team in respect to the achievement of specified outcomes and objectives of the team overall.
The successful candidate will be required to work proactively with their job-share partner to ensure a seamless service to both students and staff.

Description of Duties

Maintain an expert knowledge of the University’s academic regulations, policies and procedures and contribute to their development
Provide information and guidance to academic staff and students on matters related to regulations, student progression and academic difficulties
Effectively manage a range of student casework, providing advice and support to students as appropriate, co-ordinating with faculties and other services as necessary. Work with the aim of consistently ensuring all cases are resolved swiftly and appropriately
Take decisions under delegated authority on matters relating to deferred exams, leave of absence, change of status and academic progression, ensuring that regulations are applied in a fair and consistent manner. Identify cases which need to be brought to the attention of the Education and Student Experience Committee’s Academic Panel
Lead the University’s awards process, to ensure integrity in all awards granted by the university. Authorise sub-honours awards and identify where the award should be granted “with merit” or “with distinction”
Coordinate the arrangements for undergraduate student module registration, ensuring adherence to required deadlines and an excel
